Individual employees’ know-how and capacity for future abilities will alter the future of workplace performance and expected gains.

Many organisations have established boundaries for increasing employee pay raises by re-skilling and upskilling with future-demanding abilities.

Wipro recently announced that they will increase employee annual salary based on their ability to skill up and re-skill with future talents.

Employee advancement at Wipro will be centred on upskilling and reskilling in the future. The corporation will no longer hire people with a 30% rise. Those that are able to gain knowledge in generative Al, cybersecurity, and other in-demand talents will also be able to earn a higher salary.

According to Tol, Wipro’s CHRO, Saurabh Govil, is looking into automating as much of its functions as feasible. Indeed, it anticipates that bots would answer 80% of all queries, freeing up HR to teach managers and work on team building and management.

Govil believes that IT professionals must upskill, especially now that the economy is in a depression and hiring is scarce.

Earlier this year, the company wrote to the freshers to whom it had previously given offer letters, asking them to consider joining at a lower pay than what had been first provided.

Some candidates who were given Rs 6.5 lakhs per year were urged to accept a package worth half that amount. Surprisingly, an overwhelming 90% of the freshers have apparently accepted to join for half the promised wage in order to expedite their onboarding process.

Wipro made waves in early 2023 when it fired over 400 freshers after they failed an internal test. This test was taken by freshmen who had been waiting for nearly 15 months to be hired!
