Public Holidays for Karnataka, State, 2023
On Wednesday, the Karnatata State administration released the public holiday list for 2023. The listed public holidays are to be observed in all public offices under the Karnataka State administration/a> during the calendar year 2023.
These public holidays are listed in two different notifications, categorized as General holidays” and “Restricted holidays” in Notification I and Notification II, respectively.
There are a total of 36 public holidays listed as general and restricted holidays throughout the year, 2023.
The details of the general and public holidays are as follows:

The Notification-I holidays are mandated public holiday observed for all public offices under Karnatak State Administration. The restricted holidays are also mandated to holiday’s as per the notification.
Instead Govt.offices, private sector can select their official public holidays for 2023 as per the applicable labour law regulations, i.e.the Factories Act, 1948 and the Shop & Commercial Establishment Act, respectively.
As per the state Labour Regulations the private sector have to observe 9 to 12 public holidays for a calendar year including National & festivals holidays.
Accordingly, private organisations in the periphery of Karnataka State, can choose their public holidays from the general and restricted holidays observed for Karnataka, the State.
