Microsoft No hike for full time staff in 2023
In the era of great layoffs in IT and uncertain global economic situation, now companies are drawing strategies to control their expenses to be more competitive. An IT giant, Microsoft, holds its annual hike for full-time staff in 2023.
Microsoft is attempting to align its expenditure with revenue and consumer demand in order to invest in long-term opportunities. As part of this effort, the computer giant has determined that no compensation increases will be awarded to its current staff this year.
However, contract employees or hourly pay earners may receive raises. Furthermore, the corporation is reducing its budget for bonuses and stock awards. According to Business Insider, Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, sent an e-mail to employees emphasising how the firm invested extensively in compensation last year based on the company’s performance and the market condition.
In fact, by 2022, it had nearly doubled the global merit budget. However, he indicated this year that the economic situation had shifted, causing the corporation to forego compensation increases and budget for incentives and stock options.
The corporation revealed its intention to lay off 10,000 employees by the beginning of 2023.
According to Nadella, organisations globally were being cautious due to economic fears. Microsoft’s employment decrease was also part of similar precautionary measures.
According to Kathleen Hogan, Microsoft’s chief people officer, bonuses would be drastically reduced. The move is intended to help Microsoft prepare for long-term success.
