Air India & AIX Connect renew strategy for onboarding top-talent post merger

Air India and AirAsia Connect, both owned by the Tata Group, have updated their strategies, which include the introduction of new grades and changes to salary and perks. Following the merger, this attempt was made to streamline talent acquisition and management across all verticals.

According to the airlines’ official statement, the strategic choice to harmonize career paths improves transparency and possibilities for all employees. AIX’s new compensation structure represents an effort to align salaries and benefits with market standards. The goal is to make AIX the preferred employer in the travel and tourist industry. Furthermore, the airline is focusing on acquiring and maintaining top personnel across all business processes, as well as cultivating an excellence and innovation culture.

“With an integrated backend passenger service system, the official website allows users to book and manage services from both airlines on domestic and international sectors.” Both airlines have also collaborated on additional ancillary add-on services and sub-brands, such as Gourmair in-flight cuisine, Xpress Prime seats, and Xpress Ahead priority services,” the airlines said.

Currently, the airline serves 14 regional international destinations from 20 Indian cities. Furthermore, it serves 19 domestic destinations, forming a symbiotic network that provides travelers with a wide reach across India and in short-haul foreign markets.

Tata Group recently unveiled a new AIX logo, design, and jet livery, which will be visible beginning in December 2023.

In other news, Campbell Wilson, CEO and MD of Air India Express, stated that “Air India will deploy additional cabin crew members on its narrow body aircraft, which are operating on international routes and domestic metro-to-metro routes, to provide better service to passengers.”

In terms of cabin crew, our recruitment and training teams have done an excellent job of onboarding new colleagues in recent months. Because of their efforts, and despite our continuous expansion, we will resume a full service-based complement of cabin crew on our narrow body international and domestic metro-to-metro flights beginning September 1. As more new crew members join the system, we will restore the full service-based compliment on all other flights, subject to load factors.”

The airline is being investigated by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), and a new audit report claims that Air India faked records of spot checks, as many as 13 checks at three distinct locations (Delhi, Mumbai, and Goa), after studying CCTV footage. CEO Wilson has been given a 30-day window to fix the issue, beyond which the airlines may face fines.
