Mumbai, 26th October, 2024: As the festive season begins, Borzo (erstwhile WeFast), a global intracity delivery service is set to hire 5000 gig delivery workers to meet the anticipated demand of 45% to 60% increase in delivery volume. This anticipated demand is expected to be driven by categories such as apparel, gifting, food and FMCG, and cosmetics. Borzo is aiming to scale up operations to ensure timely and efficient deliveries especially to meet the voluminous demand during the festive season.
In India, gift-giving is a cherished tradition during the festive season, playing a vital role in celebrations—whether it’s sharing sweets, dry fruits, or clothing. Borzo will focus its supply chain recruitment efforts on metro cities, which are the primary hubs of growth and demand during the festive season. While the company is still in the early stages of its three-wheeler operations, two-wheelers will remain the primary mode of transport for the majority of deliveries.
With an active rider base of 50,000 in Borzo’s fleet, the additional 5000 riders are expected to be highly active during the festive season helping Borzo to stay competitive during the peak demand season. Borzo is strengthening its supply capacity for the festive season to serve D2C brands in Apparel, Fashion, Gifting, Manufacturers of Food items and Ecommerce players, ensuring seamless, fast and timely deliveries throughout the season.
To retain the gig workers on its platform during this ultra competitive season, Borzo is also introducing a comprehensive incentive program. Rewards such as family trips, gold coins, TVs, washing machines, and mobile phones will be offered to delivery partners to enhance their engagement and loyalty in addition to monetary incentives. These incentives are designed to not only boost earnings but also improve the overall experience for both the delivery partners and their families.
Ms. Alina Kisina, CEO, Borzo said, “The festive season has set us a challenge to deliver timely and reliable services in a very competitive market. We are increasing our gig workforce by 5,000 delivery partners as we believe it would not just serve the projected 45% to 60% increase in demand till December 2024 but enable more workers to significantly increase their earnings during this period. With competition heating up across industries to secure delivery partners and maintain quick response times, Borzo is focused on expanding its fleet to support B2B verticals. This will enable D2C and e-commerce brands to meet growing demand efficiently. We’ve already seen a 10% increase in our gig workforce, positioning us well to handle the festive season surge.”
