Delhi-NCR Corporates advised to work from home during the G20 Summit from September 8 to 10.

India’s G20 Summit year is 2023, and several worldwide delegates meetings and meet-ups have taken place in various places around the country since February. The national capital, Delhi, will host the G-20 summit from September 8th to September 10th, 2023.

To ensure that the delegates have a smooth and efficient experience, the Delhi government has ordered that all government and private offices remain closed in the city for three days during the G-20 meeting.

Companies around the Delhi-NCR have implemented a work-from-home policy for their staff in response to the Delhi government’s request. Following the impending G20 Summit, offices in Delhi and other adjacent cities such as Noida and Gurugram will offer work-from-home possibilities to their employees.

The Delhi government mandated that all official and private offices, banks, and commercial organizations, including marketplaces, remain closed from September 8 to 10, 2023. This is to guarantee that the visiting delegates have a pleasant and memorable stay.

Specific metro stations will be closed or run with limited capacity during the G-20 conference. As part of the security precautions, metro stations such as Khan Market, Janpath, Supreme Court, and Bhikaji Cama Place have been marked as restricted entrance points by the Delhi Police metro unit.

The country will host the 18th G20 Summit in New Delhi from September 9 to 10. Many business executives have stated their support for making the Summit a tremendous success, as it is a source of national pride.

Naturally, many businesses are concerned about the possible issues that employees may face when commuting to work. As a result, they have already requested that their teams use the work-from-home option.

Furthermore, Companies involved in automotive, manufacturing, and similar operations that work six days a week will be impacted. However, in order to control traffic, functions following the G-20 Summit have been ordered to remain closed on Saturday and Sunday.

Mita Brahma, HR Head of Noida-based NIIT Limited, stated, “In light of the Delhi government’s traffic advisory surrounding the G20 summit from the 8th to the 10th of September, we understand the potential challenges our Delhi-based employees may face in their daily commute.” Given this, we have already announced the option to work from home during the period.”

Saumya Khati, SVP and head of HR at e-commerce platform Shiprocket expressed similar concerns and added that the company had taken steps to ensure the summit ran smoothly. She went on to say that the Gurugram-based company has made proactive initiatives to allow its employees in Delhi and those going from Delhi to Gurugram to work from home.

Due to the G20, Bajaj Electricals will close its office in Connaught Place in Delhi for two days and reschedule official domestic travel. Similarly, KPMG will use partial remote working at several offices in the NCR.

The G20 Summit will be attended by 29 heads of state, as well as high-ranking officials from the European Union invited guest nations and 14 international organization leaders.
