In a landmark move, the Delhi government has announced an increase in minimum wages for skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled workers, setting a new national standard. The revised rates, effective from April 1, 2025, showcase the government’s commitment to fair pay and support for workers amidst economic challenges.

Revised Wage Rates

The new structure offers significant raises across all worker categories:

  • Unskilled Workers: ₹18,456/month (up from ₹18,066)

  • Semi-Skilled Workers: ₹20,371/month (up from ₹19,929)

  • Skilled Workers: ₹22,411/month (up from ₹21,917)

  • Graduates and Above: ₹24,356/month (up from ₹23,836)

These adjustments aim to counter inflationary pressures, ensuring workers in essential sectors receive fair compensation and improved financial stability.

Empowering Workers

The Secretary-cum-Labour Commissioner emphasized that the wage revision aligns with the central government’s dearness allowance adjustments. This proactive approach mitigates inflationary impacts while safeguarding workers’ financial well-being.

Under the Minimum Wages Act of 1948, workers are empowered to report discrepancies in wage payments. Claims can be submitted to the Joint Labour Commissioner or Deputy Labour Commissioner in respective districts for resolution.

Transformative Impact

This wage hike is expected to:

  • Alleviate Financial Strain: Enable workers to cope with inflation and rising costs.

  • Improve Quality of Life: Support families and meet basic needs.

  • Promote Economic Stability: Strengthen essential sectors through equitable pay.

Thousands of workers across the capital stand to benefit from this measure, solidifying Delhi’s position as a leader in workers’ rights and fair pay.  For further insights into the evolving workplace paradigm, visit
