The first deadline for submitting an application for a higher pension was March 3, 2023. The deadline to choose a higher pension was originally May 3, 2023, but EPFO has now extended it to June 26.
EPFO extends Deadline for opting Pension on Higher Wages to June 26
The deadline to apply for a higher pension was extended by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) retirement fund organization on Tuesday to June 26.
The first deadline for submitting an application for a higher pension was March 3, 2023. The deadline to choose a higher pension was originally May 3, 2023, but EPFO has now extended it to June 26.
The details were disclosed in a statement that several requests for time extensions had been received from various sources.
According to the announcement, “EPFO has made arrangements for obtaining Applications for Validation of Option / Joint Option from Pensioners/Members as per the Hon’ble Supreme Court order dated 04.11.2022.”
“An online facility has been made accessible to speed up this process. To date, more than 12 lakh applications have been submitted. The warning stated that the online facility would only be available until May 3, 2023.
“In the interim, numerous requests for a time extension have been received from various sources. The problem has been taken into consideration, and it has been determined that the deadline for filing applications will now be until June 26, 2023, in order to provide a broader window of opportunity and to allow all qualified persons to do so, according to the notification.
“The deadline is being extended to help and give the pensioners/members adequate opportunity to relieve any issue being faced by them. This decision was made after thoughtfully weighing the different requests from the associations of the businesses, employees, and workers that were received, according to the notification.
The deadline has been extended to help the retirees and members and give them plenty of time to work through any difficulties they may be experiencing.
It was said that this was reached after sympathetically examining the different demands made by both employers and employees, as well as their organizations.
