Pay Transparency is on the Rise in India, Report

In order to recruit the best personnel, pay transparency and wage data have expanded dramatically with job advertisements in India in recent months.

According to the employment portal, indeed, around 46 percent of all India job ads on Indeed now include employer-provided pay statistics, an increase of 64 percent in the last year and 11 percent in the last three years.

Cities such as Delhi (208%), Mumbai (71%), and Bangalore (63%), showed the greatest growth in jobs that included pay information to potential job searchers.

Other cities, such as Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Mohali, witnessed only a 2%, 15%, and 18% increase in pay transparency, respectively.

Understand  Pay Transparency?

Transparency in pay is often referred to as salary transparency or wage transparency. This is the practice of freely disclosing salary information to employees and candidates.

According to the survey, the tendency of revealing pay details has expanded the fastest in high-wage occupations such as banking, engineering, and mathematics. However, there is no legislation in India that requires wage transparency.

However, since the epidemic, the workplace has seen a transformation with GenZ entering the workforce and supporting wage transparency, he noted.

Indeed India’s Head of Sales Sashi Kumar stated, “Employers in India are adapting to changing demographics by adopting new strategies to attract the latest generation of talent.”

“High attrition rates and intense competition for skilled workers necessitate a shift towards pay transparency,” Sashi Kumar continued.

The reports have suggested the following findings:

  • The cities with the largest rise in positions that provide wage information to potential job searchers are Delhi (208 percent), Mumbai (71 percent), and Bangalore (63 percent).
  • Other cities, such as Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Mohali, experienced only a 2%, 15%, and 18% increase in transparency, respectively.
  • However, tier 2 and 3 cities are still a long way from pay transparency, with cities such as Nashik and Surat showing a decline in job posts with compensation details.
  • The wage information in remote job advertising increased by 76%.

It is also anticipated that the market would become more receptive to salary transparency in the future.
