Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, has enumerated a few “must-have” qualities that the company’s HR managers search for in job candidates during interviews. In an interview with British-Albanian artist Dua Lipa for the BBC podcast, Cook emphasized that “collaboration” is one of the most important qualities a candidate must have in order to be hired by the Cupertino, California-based company.
“Are they able to work together, the employees? “Do they really think that one plus one equals three?” asked the CEO, who has been in office since August 2011.
The sixty-three-year-old company leader clarified his meaning when he said, “One plus one equals three.” “It’s an amazing feeling to work with people who bring out the best in you; fundamentally, we all think that one plus one equals three, meaning that your idea plus mine is superior to each of our individual ideas.”

Cook retorted that Apple employed individuals from “all walks of life,” which encompasses both those with and without a college degree. Cook added that while he thinks everyone can benefit from knowing how to code, Apple has employed people who aren’t very good at it or don’t use it on a daily basis.
Speaking about other qualities he seeks in Apple workers, Cook stated that he is looking for inquisitive individuals who don’t mind asking questions. He continued by saying that he seeks out individuals who are imaginative and cooperative.
