In an attempt to avenge professional criticism, former employees of a private company circulated his naked images on Instagram, honey-trapping the boss.
By honey-trapping their boss on social media in an attempt to get retribution, two employees forced him to submit images of himself in his underwear, which they then shared with his wife and other people. The victim ultimately came to the attention of the cybercrime police after enduring three months of torture.
According to a media report, the perpetrators of the incident banded together to get retribution for what they perceived to be workplace humiliation. After the two were located by the police, they testified that Gupta frequently ridiculed and criticized them for work-related issues.
According to the news report, in order to communicate with their supervisor, the two made a fictitious Instagram account and pretended to be women. They soon began having sexual talks and coerced the boss into sending his photos in his underwear; following that, they stopped using the account.
A few days later, the two sent their boss an email including screenshots of their talks and images of them in their underwear, which made him quite anxious. According to the media outlet, in September, the two sent the discussions and pictures to the company’s HR department as well as their boss’s official email address.
But the two of them didn’t stop there; at the boss’s place of employment, they gave the boss’s wife a printed copy of the photos. Their supervisor requested assistance from the cybercrime department as a result of the ongoing harassment.
ACP (Cybercrime) Hardik Makadia said that the case seemed to be the result of corporate animosity and said that the necessary legal procedures were conducted after tracking down the two offenders with the use of the IP address. According to the article, the two received letters under CrPC 41 (A) for recording their statements, but their employer is not interested in taking the case any further.
