SAP mandates employees to work from office three days a week

SAP mandates employees to work from the office three days a week, or earlier, two days a week.

The Walldorf, Baden-Württemberg-based German multinational software company SAP now requires its staff to work three days a week from the office. SAP is a software corporation that creates enterprise software to handle customer connections and business processes worldwide.

As the top provider of enterprise resource planning software globally, SAP offers enterprises cloud-architected systems, database software, and other software solutions in addition to ERP software.

The requirements for return-to-office have been modified to 3 days of work from the office by SAP. Previously, the business requested that workers spend two days a week working from home. It now requests that they work three days a week from the office, beginning in January.

With a grace period, this mandate will remain in force until the end of April 2024. According to reports, the decision is a component of the company’s evolving flexible work strategy, which is in line with best practices in the sector.

A SAP representative stated that workers are required to work three days a week in the office or on-site with clients or partners, while also incorporating social partners and according to local labor rules.

Christian Klein, CEO, SAP, emphasized that the company is also refining its performance management approach across the organization. The goal is to enhance the focus on evaluating and rewarding employees based on individual performance and capabilities. More details on this approach will be communicated through a global email at the beginning of the following week.

With 15,000 workers, SAP’s largest research and development facility outside of Germany is situated in India. SAP has announced modifications to its board structure in order to accelerate cloud growth, in addition to the regulations regarding return-to-office.

SAP Labs India announced the opening of a new office in Pune in October 2023. Intended to generate work for three hundred workers. The location of the office will be in Pune’s Kharadi neighborhood. Furthermore, the organization has announced that it will increase the number of people working on artificial intelligence (AI) by the end of the current year.
