The Labour Ministry added new features to the eShram Portal

Shri Bhupender Yadav, Union Minister for Labour and Employment as well as Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, unveiled new features in the eShram Portal on April 24, 2023.

Ms. Arti Ahuja, Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment, and other top Ministry officials attended the unveiling of the eSHRAM new features.

The additional features added to the eShram platform will improve its utility and make it easier for unorganised workers to register. Through the eShram portal, eShram registered workers can now connect with Employment Opportunities, Skilling, Apprenticeship, Pension Scheme, Digital Skilling, and State Schemes.

The eShram portal now includes a tool for collecting migrant worker family information. This feature can aid in the provision of child education and women-centric programmes to migrant workers who have migrated with their families.

Furthermore, a new feature on sharing data of construction workers registering on eShram with the relevant Building and Other Construction Workers’ (BOCW) Welfare Board has been added to ensure that eShram construction workers are registered with the respective BOCW board and have access to the schemes designed for them.

The Union Minister also formally launched the Data Sharing Portal (DSP) for the sharing of eShram data with state/UT governments. The Data exchange Portal will enable the secure exchange of eShram beneficiaries’ data with the different States and Union Territories for the targeted execution of social security/welfare schemes for unorganised employees enrolled on eShram.

Recently, the Ministry began mapping different scheme data with eShram data in order to identify eShram registrants who have not yet received the benefits of these schemes. This data is also shared with states/UTs, allowing them to identify unorganised workers who have not yet received benefits from social welfare/security systems and deliver those benefits to them first.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment is constantly working for the welfare of the country’s workers. In this aim, the Ministry launched the eShram portal on August 26, 2021, with the goal of creating a comprehensive National Database of Unorganised Workers seeded with Aadhaar. Over 28.87 crore unorganised workers had registered on the eShram platform as of April 21, 2023.
