5G Ruling Job Opportunities in 2023 Across Sectors
As per the reports, 5G will be the king of jobs in the telecom sector. But in line with 5G, hiring will also increase in the retail, manufacturing, healthcare, and automotive sectors.

5G to Create Job Opportunities in 2023 Across Sectors
However, the year 2023 will witness more layoff’s in IT’s and start-up’s, but the stable sectors are the only hopes for Indian workforce. Which will consume the high workforce flow in the year ahead. Further, the telecom sector will be the king of job opportunities in 2023 following the 5G introduction in Country. Over 50 Indian cities are enjoying 5G services now, and most of the country will cover the 5G in next two years, that is, by 2025, The prospects in the telecom sector seem to be bright.
It is expected that 5G will create new jobs around the major sectors in 2023. As major telecom companies have already announced the launch of 5G in major cities across the country.
This move, prospects a 15-20% rise in demand for technology process talent in the telecom and allied sectors. Beside this, talent demand is going up by a record 25-30% in the year ahead.
The 5G introduction and coverage will create jobs in following categories:-
- Major job prospects to be created in the field of data analytics, data science, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.
- The non-telecom sector companies- retail and automotive are expected to line-up with 5G rapidly, which will create job opportunities in these sectors.
- The higher demand for talent required will be in the mid-rage-levels (with 4-8 years of experience) across sectors.
- The emerging job opportunities creating in Video content, Network Upgradation & Migration, Private 5G for Enterprises, IoT/IIoT, Mobility, Network Infrastructure, and Network Security.
In 2022, we already witnessed around 20 per cent growth in talent demand in possessing knowledge of telecom technology, as compared to the previous year.
To meet with demand that 5G would bring in, the companies are focusing on up-skilling and training of their employees for effective and efficient engagement with the new technologies.
Recently, Ericsson India, announced its production capacity and operations expension with its partner Jabil at Pune to meet the demand of 5G network deployments in India. Which will create a new employment opportunities for 2000 people at Pune site.
To increase flexibility and speed in bringing products into the market, Ericsson India is also establishing a technology center in Pune.
As the Ericsson Mobility Report, November 2022 edition reported, “With the increasing availability and affordability of 5G smartphones, along with rapid adoption of smartphones in urban and rural areas, 5G subscriptions in the India region are expected to rapidly increase to reach around 690 million by the end of 2028”.
