The tech giant has developed helpful products that people use every day, from search and maps to Gmail and Docs in Google Workspace. Artificial intelligence has played a crucial role in developing products that have an important place in people’s lives.

This announcement comes at a time when major technology companies have been rolling out new AI features in the excitement following the launch of ChatGPT last year. Google’s announcement of AI chat in Gmail and Docs brings new changes and features to users of the platforms.

The company says the AI-powered tools will help its users achieve their goals in Gmail, Docs, Slides, Sheets, Meet, and Chat. With the help of the new features, Workspace users will be able to do the following:

1. Create, reply to, summarize, and prioritize drafts in Gmail.
2. Brainstorm, proofread, write, and rewrite in Docs.
3. Create automatically generated images, audios, and videos in slides.

“Blank pages can confuse the best of us. “That’s why we’re embedding generative AI into Docs and Gmail to help people get started writing,” Johanna Voolich Wright, vice president of product for Google Workspace, wrote on a blog post.

“Whether you’re a busy HR professional who needs to create customized job descriptions or a parent writing a pirate-themed invitation for your child’s birthday party, Workspace saves you the time and effort of writing the first version.” “Just type in a topic you want to write about, and it instantly creates a draft for you,” added Johanna Voolich Wright Post.

It continues, “With your collaborative AI partner, you can continue to refine and edit, and get more suggestions as needed.”

Johanna Voolich Wright writes on her blog that AI is no substitute for the ingenuity, creativity, and intelligence of real people. Sometimes AI gets it wrong, sometimes it delights us with something unusual, and often it needs guidance.

With this in mind, Google has designed its products according to its AI principles, which put the user in control by letting the AI make suggestions that they can accept, edit, and change.
