Coca-Cola topped the list with the biggest raises, the best promotions, and the strongest culture listed by the American Opportunity Index.

Job seekers place the highest value on organizations with a strong culture, good wage increases, and promotions. Increased income and career security boost an employee’s confidence and output.

Which businesses have the finest promotions, the largest raises, and the strongest cultures? A list of the top 100 corporations ranked on that opportunity is released by the American Opportunity Index. The first-ranked company on the list is Coca-Cola, followed by J.M. Smucker and W.W. Grainger.

The top 10 businesses were determined by looking at compensation, hiring, promotions, culture, and parity criteria.

According to this year’s American Opportunity Index, which was compiled by Harvard Business School, the Burning Glass Institute, and the Schultz Family Foundation, the beverage industry came in first. It assesses how well businesses support workers’ attainment of upward economic mobility and fruitful career outcomes.

Using labor market data, the index monitors 396 of the biggest employers in the US and analyzes their business success from 2018 to 2022. To assess ratings for hiring, salary, promotion, culture, and parity—or racial and gender equality—the index also examines individual resumes and pay data.

Coca-Cola scored first in terms of culture, compensation, and hiring. According to the index, Coca-Cola sets definite goals to guide business priorities. For example, the company wants to see 50% of its leaders be women by 2030. According to the findings, the organization also makes sure that internal opportunities are apparent throughout the employee network and that it links workers with one another.

The hiring ranking examined the proportion of new hires who began working for the company with less than three years of experience, as well as the proportion of new hires who did not hold a bachelor’s degree. While promotion focused on the possibility of employees receiving promotions and transferring to higher-paying positions when they changed firms, the pay indicator examined both compensation and the rate of salary growth.

J.M. Smucker received high marks for culture, salary, and advancement, placing them in second place overall in the ranking. Despite having poor hiring and gender equity, the 6,700-person company scored highly for wage growth, racial parity, and retention.

Business-to-business distributor W.W. Grainger came in third place, scoring the highest on compensation and culture and mediocre to above average on the remaining three factors.

Financial services, software and technology firms, and banks make up a large portion of the remaining corporations in the top 10. PNC Financial Services, ServiceNow, and Meta Platforms were among them. Only three of the top 10 were in the top 100 for hiring, but nearly all the top 10 were in the top 100 overall for salary.

Businesses like Fox, Prudential Financial, Berkshire Hathaway, and Airbnb didn’t place in the top 100 for any of the indicators on the list.
