S&P Global, an American banking and publicly traded firm, has released its updated worldwide benefits policy, People First 9.0, which strives to prioritise the well-being of employees, including those in India. The policy represents the company’s purpose of creating a culture of inclusivity and belonging by addressing diverse personal, professional, and social requirements of S&P Global workers.

Based on employee feedback, the policy extends parental leave to 26 weeks, provides yearly health assessments, flexible paid time off, care leave, and other enhancements that support employees’ lifestyles, schedules, compensation, families, and career development.

It also provides new expanded benefits to all employees in order to encourage their growth, engagement, and fulfillment.

For example, insuring the salary of any employee who is unable to work owing to a chronic sickness or significant illness for up to a year, assisting nursing parents with milk shipping while on business travel, and supplying hospital-grade Medela pumps in all office locations.

Menopause support is also provided, including temperature-controlled rooms, flexible working hours, and unlimited paid leave to manage menopausal symptoms. Furthermore, by avoiding Friday meetings, the company respects global time zones and employees’ schedules.

Other benefits include continuing to provide five additional annual wellness days off, providing learning and digital tool adoption for development, and offering a global education support programme for current and former employees in collaboration with Cornell and Emeritus.

Finally, the policy encourages flexible and hybrid working arrangements in all offices around the world, including India.

S&P Global’s chief purpose officer, Dimitra Manis, commented on the launch, saying, “Our People First ethos is also inherent in our values of discovery.” Partnership, integrity, and personifying these ideals are critical to accelerating success.

“Our People First philosophy gives us a chance to understand the needs of our people and build an environment that gives them a chance to thrive and belong,” said Nilam Patel, head-India operations at S&P Global.

This is our opportunity to give back to our employees and create a healthy work atmosphere that encourages people to bring their full selves to work.” Furthermore, the policy is expected to benefit over 12,500 people in India by providing a supportive and empathetic work environment in which they can thrive both personally and professionally.
