EPFO launches system for employees to retrieve UAN
The 12-digit universal account number, if lost or forgotten, can now be easily retrieved online from home itself.
EPFO launches a system for employees to retrieve UANs, where EPFO subscriber’s retrieve their lost UANs.
Employees can now retrieve their Universal Account Number (UAN) online if they misplaced or forgot it, thanks to a solution developed by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO).
These days, when workers change employment often, it is normal for some of them to forget or lose their 12-digit unique account number, or UAN. Employees cannot perform any of the numerous provident fund-related tasks or transactions without this UAN.
With a few easy steps, EPFO’s web service will now assist them in retrieving this UAN.
The employees only need to go to the Member UAN/Online Service (OCS/OTCP) on the EPFO official website. What will assist them is the ‘Know your UAN’ button located under Important Links.
To obtain an OTP, employees must input their registered mobile number and complete the captcha before clicking. They can then enter their name, date of birth, member ID, Aadhaar or PAN number, and captcha if needed after the OTP has been verified on their phones. They will then receive their UAN number on their registered cellphone if they select the option “Show My UAN” and click on it.
If you haven’t already, the procedure for activating UAN is likewise straightforward and can be completed online.
The EPFO has been improving its digital services and facilities, which has made life easier for members—pensioners in particular. Subscribers no longer need to physically visit an EPFO office for numerous purposes.
EPFO has allowed pensioners covered by the pension system (EPS) to electronically submit their life certificates at any time of the year, starting in 2022.
