Infosys Revoked Work-From-Home Policy, Outcry in the Employees
Infosys, a Bangalore-based global IT business, has discontinued its Work from Home option and has urged its staff to work from the office instead.
The rescinded policy will be enforced in the United States and Canada in the first phase, prompting employees to return to work.
According to TOI reports, Infosys would also issue a warning to staff about disciplinary penalties if they fail to report to the new work office.
The policy applies to approximately 30,000 employees in the United States and Canada. Employees who intend to work remotely will need to seek special approval, according to the corporation.
However, the corporation stated that the restriction does not currently apply to employees in India.
Earlier this month, Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy stated that young people should not insist on working from home.
“Anyone who has told you that work ethics are not important, hard work is not important, and laziness is good, they are not your well-wishers,” Narayana Murthy declared.
Infosys announced a three-phase strategy in November 2022 for employees in India to gradually return to work. The corporation informed its staff that it will implement a “three-phase work from office plan.”
The three phases include:-
- The company’s first phase plan called for employees to “come to the office twice a week based on their convenience.”
- The company’s second phase would allow employees to transfer or relocate to a branch office of their choice.
- Finally, Infosys would incorporate feedback from both prior phases in its final step. In order for the company to define its hybrid work policy.

If you want to be a leader, it will be difficult to advance, especially to managerial positions, he says.
“Remote work is more appropriate for certain roles that require individual work,” he says. You can certainly be similarly productive in the near term, but your career suffers.”
“Moving from there to another role is probably less likely because no one is watching them in a different context.” It will be more difficult. “It’s not impossible, but it’s probably a lot more difficult,” he continued.
Tata Consultancy Services altered their appraisal method in January 2023 in an effort to entice its employees to return to the office.
“Goal – Return to office; Target – Average 3 days a week from the nearest TCS office,” the software behemoth wrote in an email to managers and team leads. I request that all appraisers promptly assign the RTO (Return To Office) target shown below to all members of your team.”
TCS stated that nearly half of its employees come to work three times a week and that the business intends to increase this number to 70-80%.
