Two-fifths of employees (40%) say having a good manager—one who is accessible but doesn’t micromanage—makes them feel the most productive at work. Approximately three out of four employees (72%) in India say their manager’s support, encouragement, and/or leadership directly motivate them to go above and beyond in the workplace.

Employees’ perceptions of work are evolving; they now view it as a source of fulfillment and meaning rather than just a way to make ends meet.
According to the report, 76% of Indian workers feel that their work has a deeper significance for them than merely a “job,” and 72% of workers sincerely believe that they have an impact on their company.
88% of workers said their managers value different points of view, 91% of employees stated their managers provide them with practical feedback to help them perform better and set clear performance goals with them, and 86% of workers feel their managers give them the authority to accomplish their jobs.
According to the report, managers that place a high priority on employee engagement and growth, as well as the shifting dynamics of workplace culture, are crucial in fostering this change towards a more purpose-driven approach to work.
According to the research, 80% of workers affirm that their company offers opportunities for professional development and learning; 75% state that the company supports individuals who try new approaches, regardless of the results; and 68% concur that their workplace actively promotes diversity and cultivates an inclusive culture.
Sumeet Doshi, country manager of UKG, India, said, “There is an emerging culture of promoting trust, transparency, and accountability in workplaces across the world, and managers are the major driving force behind this shift.”
According to Doshi, it’s critical to realize that organizational change originates from the top. “Without the backing of senior leadership, initiatives and policies that promote a positive work culture cannot be sustained,” he stated. Consequently, the fact that 85% of Indian workers say their managers have encouraged them to balance work and personal obligations is encouraging evidence of how managers are assisting companies in adopting a more employee-focused definition of “work.”
