Swiggy launches super-ambulance services for delivery partners and their dependents through partner app.

Swiggy, a food and grocery delivery company, has launched a free ambulance service for all delivery partners and their dependents in the event of an emergency.

The ambulance service is accessible on the delivery partner’s app by simply tapping the SOS button or dialing a toll-free number before, during, or even after completing a delivery. The current average response time is 12 minutes.

Swiggy’s initiative is unique and industry-first. The service is fully free of charge for delivery partners and their dependents (spouse and two children), who are covered under the insurance policy of Swiggy. The delivery partners can also avail themselves of the free ambulance services for non-covered family members at a reduced cost.

Mihir Rajesh Shah, head of operations at Swiggy, confirmed, “We are committed to the safety of our delivery partners, and over the year we have been investing in products and policies that prioritize their safety and well-being.

“With ambulance service, we are making sure that our delivery partners have safety and peace of mind, and can get help when they need it the most,” Mihir added.

Swiggy has over 300,000 delivery partners in the country. The company has stated that they have partnered with Dial 4242 Ambulance Services for this industry-first initiative. This process will not require any documentation, and the delivery personnel will require nothing apart from their partner ID.

This initiative announcement comes a few weeks after a Swiggy delivery partner died when his scooter collided with a car in Noida.

Swiggy launched this ambulance support service for their delivery partners nationwide after having piloted it in Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, and Kolkata. While conducting test runs in the pilot cities, the response time of the service was recorded to be an average of 12 minutes, as mentioned by the company in a statement.

On the launch of this industry-first well-being initiative, Mihir Rajesh Shah said,  “Every day, thousands of deliveries are carried out smoothly by our delivery executives.” However, emergencies have a way of coming unannounced. “With the free ambulance service that is fast, on-demand, and comprehensive, Swiggy has got our executives’ back, giving them safety assurance and help when they need it the most.”

After having the service partnership with Swiggy, Jeetendra Lalwani, co-founder of Dial4242, said, “We are happy that Swiggy initiated such services for their fleets by partnering with Dial4242.” “We have 10,000+ ambulances across 500+ cities in India with varied capabilities and on-ground support to reach the victim in a matter of minutes, saving a precious life.”

“The nearest cashless hospital is also identified by Dial 4242 for Swiggy’s executives, ensuring they get timely treatment.” “Further, Dial 4242 Ambulance will wait till their treatment begins,” Jeetendra Lalwani added.
