Elon Musk asks Twitter users to decide his fate: Users want him to step out!
Elon Musk officially bought the microblogging platform, Twitter, on October 28, 2022. This acquisition has not gone as smoothly as Musk would have hoped. However, Musk considered being a bold and risky decision-maker, which is what he applied to Twitter after the acquisition. For this, Elon Musk, the world’s top billionaire, got criticized.
Following the acquisition, massive layoffs, debts, work culture shifts, and cost-cutting forced Musk to successfully fire over half of Twitter’s employees; he now faces the same fate as bankrupty looms.
Now rolling back new business policies, people strategies, and other major changes are some reasons we could think of why Musk would want to test the waters on his resignation too.
On December 18, 2022, Musk tweeted, “Should I step down as head of Twitter?” “I will abide by the results.”
This poll was closed on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at around 6:20 a.m. ET. Until then, over 17.5 million people had voted in the poll. In addition, 57.5% of voters supported stepping down as Twitter CEO, while 42.5% opposed the move.
The polling result clearly mandated that most Twitter users want Elon Musk to step down.
Now the question is here Twitter CEO Elon Musk keeps his promise or bow down once users want him out through an online poll.
However, Musk remains voiceless over the results of the poll as of early Tuesday morning. On Sunday late at night, he tweeted to warn the users to be careful what they chose as they might get what they vote for.
Before the poll result, Sunday, Twitter confirmed the free promotion of certain social media accounts (competitors), like Facebook, Instagram, etc. not allowed on the platform. Users, as well as Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey who initially had backed Elon Musk’s acquisition, highly criticized this move.
In the nudge of mounting criticism, Musk has previously shared his plans to eventually step down as CEO of Twitter and find someone else to run the company.
But, the poll results suggest 57.5 percent of the voters want him to step down. Does he step down and rope someone as twitter’s CEO in near future?
