Pfizer India added itself to the list to set out its own progressive policies after Flipkart, Razorpay, OK Credit, Meesho, etc. Pfizer India offers paternity leave in addition to general leave under the company's leave policy.
Additionally, in case of new born complexity during the paternity leave, Pfizer’s employee will be allowed to take casual leave or elective holiday or wellness days added with paternity leave under Pfizer leave policy.

Pfizer India announces 12 weeks of paternity leave for male employees

 

Pfizer, one of the world’s premium biopharmaceutical companies, has had a presence in India as Pfizer India since 1950 and has a portfolio of over 150 products across 15 therapeutic areas. 

 

Pfizer India, an American multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology corporation, announced 12 weeks of paternity leave for employees last week. With this announcement, Pfizer India, listed itself in the raw to set out its own progressive policies after Flipkart, Razorpay, OK Credit, Meesho, etc.

 

This new leave policy will be effective January 1, 2023. The leave is applicable to biological as well as adoptive fathers. The leaves can be obtained in one tranche for two weeks, and the maximum is six weeks.

In addition to paternity leave, the employee will be permitted to take additional leaves under Pfizer’s leave policies, such as casual leave, elective holidays, and wellness days, in the event that, any new child complications arise during the leave.

 

Shilpi Singh, Director-People Experience, Pfizer Indian, said, “We believe the future of a progressive workspace will be defined by practices that harness a people-first approach and this policy drive our people-first commitment at Pfizer”.

 

Shilpi Singh further added that the 12-week paternity leave policy will most certainly enable our male colleagues and their partners to cherish the experience and joyful moments of parenthood. 

 

Shilpi Singh, further explained the Pfizer people-first approach, “A progressive policy of this nature is the company’s endeavor to harness the power of equity at the workplace and enable both men and women to invest equal time in essaying their roles and responsibilities as new parents.  This new leave policy is part of our diversity and inclusion initiatives. This will bolster its employee-centric work environment at Pfizer”.

 

In India, so far, only government employees are entitled to get 15 days of paternity leave. However, there is no formal policy dedicated to employees in the private sector. But few private sector companies have set out progressive policies of their own, like Flipkart, Razor pay, OK Credit, Meesho, etc.

Pfizer is also providing benefits such as Telemedicine with access to doctors across 30+ therapeutic specialties. Additionally, the company is providing benefits such as:
