Wipro introduces a flexible work schedule amid rising COVID cases, while India reported 656 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours.
Wipro, an Indian multinational IT giant, is implementing flexible work arrangements in response to an increase in COVID-19 cases in the nation. The organization puts an emphasis on employee well-being by offering a flexible work schedule.
This flexible work schedule would be aligned to support the client’s business, staff professional development, and other business needs.
India reported 656 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, raising concerns amidst the looming threat of the JN1 subvariant, and the total active cases are 4170. However, the number of new cases remains relatively low compared to previous peaks.
The Omicron subvariant has been categorized as a “variant of interest” by the World Health Organization and, as of now, isn’t deemed to hold a particular risk. However, former WHO chief scientist Soumya Swaminathan has cautioned against underestimating COVID-19 as a common cold.
Last month, Wipro asked its employees to report to the office three days a week, effective November 15, 2023. The company updated its mandatory hybrid work policy on November 15, and if the employees don’t follow the updated policies, they will face consequences on January 7, 2024.
The Wipro workforce was informed by Chief Human Resources Officer Saurabh Govil that “all employees must be present at their assigned office location for at least three days each week starting on November 15.” He continued, “This change aims to strengthen Wipro’s culture, enhance teamwork, and facilitate face-to-face interactions.”
