Latest Labour Law Gazette Notifications and updates from April 2023

Telangana’s CPI Notification of Minimum Wages (April 2023)

The improved consumer price index for determining the variable dearness allowance, effective from 1 April 2023 through 30 September 2023, was announced by the Telangana government through press note. for changing the state’s minimum wage.

 

The notification of Uttar Pradesh’s minimum wages (April 2023)

According to Notification No. 02-09/Pravartan-(M.W.)/15 from the Uttar Pradesh government, minimum wages for all grades of unskilled, semiskilled, skilled, and highly skilled workers will be in effect from 1 April 2023 through 30 September 2023.


The notification of Andhra Pradesh’s minimum wages (April 2023)

With effect from April 1, 2023, the Government of Andhra Pradesh provided CPI points for the computation of the minimum wage for all grades in the unskilled, semiskilled, skilled, and highly skilled fields by Notification No. G/466/2023.

 
Central Minimum Wage Notification-(April 2023) 
The Government of India published Minimum Wages for a number of categories, including the construction or maintenance of roads or runways or in building operations, effective as of April 1, 2023, via Notification F. No. 1/5(1)/2023-LS-II.

The Minimum Wages for the State of Odisha for the Revision of the Minimum Wages for All Categories were published by the Government of Odisha under Notification No. 2500/LC, effective as of April 1, 2023.

The Maharashtra State Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings, and Employments Act, 1975, was amended by the Maharashtra government through notification number 35. This amendment included a change to the schedule of rates of tax on professions, trades, callings, and employments that increased the profession tax rate to 175 and 200.

The Madhya Pradesh Udyogon Ki Sthapna Evam Parichalan Ka Saralikaran Adhyadesh, 2023, which exempts the establishment and operation of industrial units in the State from requiring specific approvals and inspections, was put into effect by the state government via Notification No. 5645-95-Twenty One-A.

The notification of Jharkhand’s minimum wages (April 2023)
The VDA rates were updated by the Jharkhand government in Notification No. 2/MW-2071/2010, L&T-684, and they will take effect on April 1st, 2023.

ESIC’s Expansion of Medical Benefits in the Manipur Districts of Imphal
With effect from March 1, 2023, the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) extended medical benefits provided under Regulation 95-A of the Employees’ State Insurance (General) Regulations, 1950, to the families of all insured persons throughout the entirety of Imphal East and Imphal West districts.

The Employees’ State Incorporation Corporation (ESIC) published instructions for employers to seed an employee’s Aadhaar number during the registration procedure in Circular No. F. No. I-21013/1/2022/ICT.

 

The Factories (Goa Amendment) Act, 2019
The punitive provisions of the Factories Act of 1948 as it was in effect in the State of Goa were changed by the Government of Goa via Notification No. 7/11/2019-LA.


The Punjab Minimum Wages Notification (March 2023)
The minimum wages in the State of Punjab have been changed and revised by the Government of Punjab with effect as of March 1, 2023, as stated in Notification No. ST/4313.

 

Extension for the Aadhaar mandatory seeding with UAN
The deadline for seeding Aadhaar was extended by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) to March 31, 2024 for a specific class of establishments and for the north-eastern regions in Circular No. BKG-27/5/2021-BKG/E-38791.

Due to the general elections for municipal corporations, municipal councils, and panchayats, the government of Uttar Pradesh proclaimed public holidays on May 4 and May 11 in accordance with Notification No. 1/305350/2023.

By means of notice No. 1551-1750, the Government of Haryana ordered industries, employers, construction firms, and occupiers to implement the preventative measures outlined in the notification to lessen the negative effects of heat waves.

Extension of Due Date For Filing of Professional Tax Returns In West Bengal
The deadline for filing Form III returns under the West Bengal State Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings and Employments Act, 1979, has been extended by the West Bengal government through Order No. 49/CT/PRO until May 31, 2023 for electronic filing, and June 7, 2023 for paper filing.
