Samsung’s SVP & Head-HR, Sameer Wadhawan, Announces Retirement
Sameer Wadhawan will be retiring from the services of the company tomorrow, 30 April. He has been an experienced HR professional, HR mentor and Coach, Talent advisor, and HR strategist.
After a successful tenure of over six years, Sameer Wadhawan, the Senior Vice President and Head of Human Resources at Samsung Electronics, is set to bid adieu to the company. Wadhawan announced his retirement, effective from April 30, in a heartfelt social media post where he expressed gratitude towards his leadership team.
Wadhawan’s corporate journey spans an impressive 37 years, during which he has worked with renowned companies such as Coca-Cola, Nokia, Cadence Design Systems, Hewlett-Packard, Duracell, and Ranbaxy. His career has seen him work across multiple industries and with global teams, experiences that have shaped his personality, values, and beliefs.
Wadhawan kickstarted his career with Hewlett-Packard in 1997 as the General Manager of Human Resources. In this role, he managed a workforce of over 400 employees across two vital business units in India – Printer & Imaging and Personal Systems. His primary focus was to ensure seamless HR services delivery to these units through collaboration with the HR central services team and functional experts.
In 2002, Wadhawan moved to Cadence Design Systems as its Director of HR for the India region. Six years later, he joined Nokia as its Head of HR – Services, for India/Global entities. Here, his key focus was on HR transformation to support business and change management to support business transformation.
In 2010, Wadhawan joined Coca Cola as its Vice President of HR & Services for India & South West Asia. In this role, he led the HR and services team for Coca-Cola units in the region, while also serving as a senior strategic business partner. In 2017, he was elevated to the role of Vice President of Franchise Capability Building and Business Transformation for Coca-Cola India and South West Asia.
An alumnus of XLRI, Wadhawan has managed all aspects of HR — employee relations, recruitment and selection, talent development, as well as compensation and benefits — across industries including IT, telecom, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing.
In his farewell post, Wadhawan expressed immense gratitude for his enriching and rewarding journey. As he plans his next steps, he wishes his colleagues the very best, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and leadership at Samsung.
