Employer Branding Expert Navneet Oberoi Introduces the ’10K Challenge’ to Help GCCs Build Culture Through Employee Experience

The pattern is not unique to GCCs. Organisations spend heavily on telling employees what their culture is, Oberoi says, and far less on creating the experiences that would make that claim believable. His position is that employees share stories about work when they have lived something worth sharing, which is why he treats employer branding as design work first and communication second.

BENGALURU, Aug 27,2026: Navneet Oberoi, Vice President, Employer Branding & Business Strategy at TrueBlue Advisory, has introduced the 10K Challenge, an employer branding framework that gives individual teams a modest budget to design and document a shared experience that then becomes employer brand content. The framework is one practical application of what Oberoi calls experience-led employer branding, his belief that employer branding cannot be solved through communication alone and depends on designing experiences employees choose to talk about.

India is emerging as the ‘GCC Capital of the World‘, home to 17% of global technology capability centres and employing approximately 1.9 million professionals, according to Nasscom GCC Annual Report 2024. As competition for talent intensifies across the sector, employer branding has moved up the hiring agenda.

In GCCs, this plays out with a particular nuance. Many operate as part of a global parent, so culture often arrives already defined, shaped by teams across several geographies. Oberoi sees an opportunity in that, where locally created experiences give India teams something of their own to add to what they have inherited.

The 10K Challenge takes a different approach.

Instead of relying on centrally driven engagement initiatives, individual teams are given a simple brief and a modest budget of ₹10,000 to design, execute and document a shared experience. The objective is to encourage employee participation, strengthen team culture and generate authentic stories that naturally evolve into employer branding content.

The budget itself is intentional. At ₹10,000, the initiative remains within a team manager’s discretionary spending limit, allowing teams to move from idea to execution without lengthy approval processes or dependence on HR calendars.

Over time, organisations build a repository of genuine employee stories, creating what Oberoi describes as “cultural proof”, content generated through lived experiences rather than corporate messaging.

“Employer branding is a design problem before it is a communication problem,” said Navneet Oberoi. “People remember experiences, not presentations. When employees create something meaningful together, the stories that emerge are more credible than any campaign written by corporate communications.”

The 10K Challenge has been designed to be scalable across teams, business units and geographies without significantly increasing HR bandwidth, as ownership remains with employees rather than a central engagement function.

Oberoi has advised organisations across technology, GCCs, fintech, healthcare, engineering and manufacturing. His belief is built on one argument, that an employer brand is only as strong as the experiences employees have chosen to talk about.  For further insights into the evolving workplace paradigm, visit
