The online food delivery service Swiggy has unveiled a new program to assist its staff members who are adopting and caring for pets. This program, which the firm has dubbed the “Paw-ternity” policy, attempts to offer pet parents extensive support.
Effective April 11, online meal ordering and delivery service Swiggy has launched the Paw-ternity Policy in honor of National Pet Day and to provide assistance for its staff members who have pets.
Girish Menon, Chief Human Resource Officer of Swiggy, stated, “The Policy will support employees on pet care and adoption starting on April 11, National Pet Day.”
Swiggy has made the decision to provide its workers extra paid time off in addition to their yearly leave entitlement in order to welcome their new companion home. During the transitional phase, pet owners may choose to work remotely in order to nurture and soothe their new family members.
Additionally, pet parents will be permitted to use their sick or casual time off to take care of their animals’ medical needs, such as shots and visits to the vet. Additionally, Swiggy declared that pets will henceforth be covered during bereavement leave, giving workers the time they need to grieve and get over the loss.
Along with opportunities for bonding time, adoption, surrogacy, and support for experiences like IVF and miscarriage, this inclusive model offers substantial paid leave for primary and secondary caregivers. All of its full-time workers will have access to the “Paw-ternity Policy”.
Employees will benefit from an additional paid day off under this creative policy, in addition to their yearly leave entitlement, to welcome their new animal friends into their houses.
Employees will have a period of adjustment during which they might decide to work from home in order to give their new family members the necessary comfort and support.
In addition, the policy permits pet owners to take advantage of their sick or casual leave without reluctance in order to provide for the requirements of their animals, including regular vaccines and veterinarian visits.
Given the strong emotional connection that exists between people and their pets, Swiggy will also grant pet parents bereavement leave, giving them the time they need to process their loss and heal.
Swiggy’s commitment to promoting the overall wellbeing of both its employees and their furry pals is demonstrated by this kind initiative.
