The AI revolution is transforming the job market and creating an urgent need for skilled professionals who can design, develop, and implement cutting-edge AI technologies.
According to the findings of TeamLease Digital’s report, ‘Initiative for Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET): Forces Shaping the Future of Technology,’ with a special focus on artificial intelligence, there are a plethora of job openings in the healthcare, education, BFSI, and retail sectors, among others.
AI Jobs Availability- Huge demand for AI jobs
The report’s findings show that candidates in healthcare can find jobs as clinical data analysts, medical imaging specialists, and health informatics analysts, among others.
In education, candidates with professional skills can hope for jobs as edtech product managers, AI learning architects, AI curriculum developers, and chatbot developers.
In the BFSI industry, jobs are available as fraud analysts, credit risk analysts, and compliance specialists, while in manufacturing, applicants may be hired as industrial data scientists, QC analysts, process automation specialists, and robotics engineers, among others.
Retail jobs available include data analysts, IT process modelers, and digital imaging leaders.
In addition, the report highlights the importance of training opportunities for entry-level and experienced professionals by providing a list of current available positions.
Salary range for AI specialists- Huge demand for AI jobs
In addition to job listings, the report also provides estimates of salary packages for entry-level and experienced professionals in various occupations and industries, as well as desired AI skills that jobseekers should possess to secure future employment.
According to TeamLease Digital’s research, entry-level and experienced candidates can expect to earn an annual salary of between 10 lakhs and 45 lakhs. A Data Engineer and Data Scientist can earn up to Rs 14 lakh, and ML engineers can earn up to Rs 10 lakh. DevOps engineers, data architects and BI analysts can earn up to 12 lakh annually.
The report also highlights that candidates with eight years of experience in similar fields can earn even higher salaries of 25 to 45 lakh per annum.
According to the report, as of February 2023, there are 45,000 open artificial intelligence jobs in India alone, with data scientists and ML engineers among the most sought-after professions.
The report also highlights that the increasing focus on scalable ML applications will lead to an increase in demand for AI professionals who are proficient in scripting languages, and that building traditional ML models will be the most important skill required for a career in AI.
According to a survey, 37% of companies prefer to provide their employees with appropriate tools to build an AI-ready workforce, and 30% of companies said AI learning initiatives are mandatory to unlock hidden talent in the workforce.
Fifty-six percent of companies said necessary initiatives are being taken to close the gap between demand and supply of AI talent. The survey also found that the majority of employees agree with their employers.
Fifty-five percent of workers said AI is opening up new job opportunities, and another 54% emphasized the fact that companies are taking initiatives to up-skill and re-skill in order to have a future-ready workforce. More than 40% of workers believe that building internal capabilities and integrating AI into day-to-day operations will improve AI capabilities.
