Employees of Heavy Engineering Corporation Limited, an affiliate of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd., went nine months without pay. Workers have been demonstrating for 21 days in order to receive their unpaid salaries.

Worker's are on agitation and top position are vacant. "There is no authority to take action to pay the salary dues, senior positions are vacant, and the government has made temporary appointments to scuttle the agitation," said Hatia Mazdoor Sangh President Bhagwan Singh.

No hope seems in sight for an early solution to the 21-day impasses at the Heavy Engineering Corporation Ltd., as yesterday's scheduled meeting between CMD and agitating workers looks uncertain as the latter HEC workers said they will further intensify their agitation till their demands are met.

Meanwhile, the Union Ministry of Heavy Industries issued an order to fill a vacant position with a temporary appointment. On the vacant top executive positions at HEC, additional charges have been assigned to BHEL's top executives. Rajesh Kumar Dwivedi, general manager (finance) of BHEL, has been assigned additional charges of director-finance at HEC, and Shakil Kumar Manocha, the executive director of BHEL, is being entrusted with the additional charge of director-production.
