AI will be a boon rather than a curse for jobs, says CP Gurnani in an interview given to Reuters
CP Gurnani, the outgoing CEO of Tech Mahindra, disputes the notion that AI will replace human-centric core professions, arguing that AI can actually generate more jobs than it might eliminate.
AI has the potential to create more jobs than it can eliminate, according to Tech Mahindra CEO CP Gurnani in a media interview.
“The use cases of generative AI are still being defined, which means that it has the potential to create more job opportunities in the future,” stated CP Gurnani, CEO of Tech Mahindra.
“There is definitely more to come, and the possibilities are just getting started,” CP Gurnani continued.
In addition, he exhorted the next generation of engineers to adjust to a changing world and devote more time to self-directed skill acquisition.
He asserted, “AI created jobs; it did not take away jobs.”
CEOs of various companies, however, have differing positions regarding the replacement of human labor with generative AI. Arvind Krishna, the CEO of IBM, stated earlier this year that hiring, particularly in back-office departments like human resources, would be stopped or slowed down.
According to the corporation, in five years, automation and artificial intelligence might replace 30% of non-customer-facing jobs.
Media sources state that Infosys founder Narayana Murthy addressed concerns about artificial intelligence (AI) taking on the role of people in the workplace. As an “assistive” tool, AI, according to him, will allow humans more time and space to think more creatively and productively.
The co-founder of Infosys continued, saying that although AI has improved lives, people will never allow technology to take their place.
While AI has the capacity to fundamentally alter society, there are also genuine risks associated with it, according to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
In addition, Sam Altman thinks AI chatbots have the potential to be “the greatest technology humanity has yet developed,” improving our lives while also “eliminating a lot of current jobs.”
